Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 7/12/2026
Welcome to Night Lights. I’m Luke, and I make everything you’ll find in this shop. These terms cover what happens when you buy something from me, whether that’s a finished art piece, a DIY guide, or a kit. By placing an order, you agree to them. I’ve written them in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, email me at hello@nightlights.club and I’ll give you a straight answer.
1. What I Sell
Art Pieces. Finished, handmade interactive illuminated artwork, built and tested by me before it ships.
DIY Guides. Digital products that teach you to build an illuminated art piece yourself. Each guide includes a PDF, an EPUB, 3D printing files, and code files.
DIY Kits. Everything in the corresponding guide, plus the physical parts you need to complete the build.
Because each art piece is handmade, expect small variations from the photos on this site. That’s the nature of the work, and I consider it a feature.
2. Ordering & Payment
Prices are listed in US dollars and include shipping, but don’t include applicable taxes, which are calculated at checkout. Payment is due in full when you place your order. I process payments through WooPayments; I never see or store your full card details.
I reserve the right to cancel any order, for example if an item is out of stock, a price was listed in error, or I can’t verify the payment. If I cancel your order, I’ll refund you in full.
3. Shipping
I ship physical items (art pieces and the physical portion of kits) from Washington State via USPS. I’ll send you a tracking number when your order ships. Handmade pieces take around 1 business day to prepare before shipping; kits also ship within 1 business days. If there is a rush and I run out of stock I will communicate a shipping timeline with you directly.
Once a package is in the carrier’s hands, delivery timing is theirs, not mine. If a package arrives damaged, contact me within 7 days with photos of the item and the packaging, and I’ll make it right with a repair, replacement, or refund.
I currently only ship to the US.
4. Digital Delivery
Digital products (guides, and the digital portion of kits) are delivered by download link sent to your email after purchase. Links are for your use only. If a link expires or fails, email me and I’ll send a fresh one at no charge.
5. Returns & Refunds
Art pieces. You can return a finished art piece within 30 days of delivery for a refund, as long as it comes back in its original condition. You cover return shipping unless the piece arrived damaged or defective. I’ll refund you within 7 business days of receiving the return.
DIY guides. All sales of digital products are final once you’ve downloaded or accessed the files. Because digital files can’t be “returned,” I can’t offer refunds after download. If you purchased a guide and haven’t downloaded anything, contact me within 14 days and I’ll refund you.
DIY kits. The physical parts in a kit can be returned within 30 days if the kit is unopened and unused. The digital portion follows the digital rule above: once you’ve downloaded the files, that part of the purchase is final. If you return an unopened kit after downloading the files, I’ll refund the kit price minus the standalone guide price.
Defective parts. If a component in your kit is missing, dead on arrival, or breaks during normal assembly, email me within 30 days and I’ll ship a replacement part free of charge.
6. Your License to Digital Content
When you buy a guide or kit, you’re buying a personal license, not the content itself. Here’s what that means in practice.
You may:
- Use the guide, code, and 3D files to build pieces for yourself or as gifts.
- Modify the code and 3D files for your own builds.
- Print the files as many times as you like for personal projects.
You may not:
- Share, resell, publish, or redistribute the guide, code, or 3D files in any form, modified or not.
- Sell or commercially distribute lamps or art pieces built from my guides, kits, files, or designs.
- Use the files or designs in a product, course, or service you charge for.
If you’d like to use my designs commercially, email me. I’m open to conversations about licensing; I just ask that it happen with my agreement rather than without it.
7. Intellectual Property
Everything on this site and in my products, including designs, artwork, photography, written guides, code, 3D models, and the Night Lights name and logo, belongs to me. Buying a product doesn’t transfer any ownership of these materials to you beyond the license described above.
8. DIY Safety & Assumption of Risk
Building electronics is a hands-on activity with real tools and real risks. My guides and kits involve some or all of the following: soldering irons that reach temperatures capable of causing serious burns, electrical wiring, cutting tools, small parts, and 3D printed components.
By purchasing a guide or kit, you accept these risks and agree that:
- You’ll read and follow the safety instructions in the guide before starting.
- You’re responsible for using appropriate safety equipment and working in a suitable space.
- Adults must supervise any minors participating in a build.
- You build at your own risk. I’m not liable for injuries or property damage that result from assembling, modifying, or using something you built.
I write my guides to be safe and beginner-friendly, and I flag hazards where they exist. But I’m not in the room with you, and I can’t control how you build.
9. Product Use & Care
Finished art pieces and completed kit builds are decorative electronic artwork, not certified lighting fixtures or toys. Use them indoors, away from water, with the power supply specified in the documentation. Don’t leave them running unattended for extended periods, and keep them away from small children and pets who might chew cables or swallow parts.
10. Warranty & Disclaimers
Finished art pieces come with a [90-day] warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This covers failures under normal use; it doesn’t cover damage from drops, water, modification, or use with an incorrect power supply.
Guides and kits are provided as-is. I test every design and proofread every guide, but I can’t warrant that your build will match your expectations or skill level, and I don’t warrant components against damage caused during assembly (see Section 5 for dead-on-arrival parts).
Except as stated above, I disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, my total liability for any claim related to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase. I’m not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cowlitz County, Washington.
13. Changes to These Terms
I may update these terms from time to time. The version posted on this page at the time of your purchase is the one that applies to your order. I’ll update the date at the top whenever I make changes.
14. Contact
